What Happens to Your Junk After We Pick It Up? (Recycling & Donation)
We Don't Just Dump Everything — Here's What Really Happens
At Superior Demo & Junk Removal, we believe in responsible disposal. While some junk removal companies take the easy route and dump everything at the nearest landfill, we take the time to sort, recycle, and donate whenever possible. It takes more effort, but it's the right thing to do for Broward County and the environment. Here's exactly what happens to your items after we pick them up.
Our Sorting Process
After every pickup, our team sorts items into three categories:
- Donate: Items in good, usable condition go to local charities and thrift stores right here in Broward County
- Recycle: Metals, electronics, cardboard, and recyclable materials go to certified recycling facilities
- Dispose: Only items that truly can't be reused or recycled go to the landfill — and that's typically less than 40% of what we collect
What Gets Donated
We partner with local Broward County charities and organizations to donate usable items:
- Furniture in good condition (couches, tables, chairs, dressers) — goes to families in need
- Working appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, microwaves) — tested and donated locally
- Clothing and household goods — distributed through local shelters
- Books, toys, and sporting equipment — donated to community centers and schools
- Building materials (doors, windows, hardware) — sent to Habitat for Humanity ReStore
We provide donation receipts for tax purposes when items are donated on your behalf. Many of our Weston and Coral Springs clients appreciate this for year-end deductions.
What Gets Recycled
- Metals: Scrap metal, appliances, aluminum, copper, steel — processed at local recycling yards
- Electronics: Computers, TVs, monitors — sent to certified e-waste recyclers (not shipped overseas)
- Cardboard & paper: Boxes, documents, packaging — baled and recycled locally
- Concrete & masonry: Crushed and reused as road base and aggregate material
- Wood: Clean lumber is recycled into mulch or biomass fuel
- Mattresses: Springs, foam, and fabric are separated and recycled at specialized facilities
Our Environmental Impact
We divert approximately 60-70% of the items we collect from landfills through donation and recycling. This isn't just good for the environment — it's good for our community. Every donated couch is a family that doesn't have to buy new. Every recycled appliance is less metal that needs to be mined. Every piece of concrete we crush is less virgin aggregate that needs to be quarried.
Make the Responsible Choice
When you hire a junk removal company, you're trusting them to handle your items responsibly. Not every company takes that trust seriously. We do. If knowing your old furniture will help a family in need — or that your construction debris will be recycled instead of landfilled — matters to you, then we're the right call. Reach us at (754) 610-6190 and feel good about where your junk ends up.
